‘Water’ is an award winning short film by Corrie Jones about a young boy’s struggle to accept his fears, his mentally disabled father and his possible future duty.
Toby yearns for a life like any other 8 year old, but his mentally disabled father is a constant reminder that life will never be normal.

An interesting topic I may say. What is something you never believed in until you experienced it?
Some of you should know by now that I am from a tropical country. Having been living in a country where there were only two seasons, rainy and sunny. I used to not believe that WINTER can be so cold. I see it in the movies all the time and I always thought to myself, why the heck are they using multiple layers of clothing? They look absolutely ridiculous and I used to think they were overreacting on how cold it is. I guess I never really paid attention to how temperatures work. I didn’t own a smart phone or wasn’t all fancy about the internet back then. I was all about going out, riding my bike, exploring my city. I have to admit, I was a very lucky go happy person back then.
Now that I’m here to experience it first hand and the temperatures deep into the negatives, I must say that I can now feel the coldness that they feel in the movies that I’ve seen.
And I was like..

Wow, it’s been 5 long years since I stepped foot in Canada and boy do I have the urge to go back home for a much needed vacation. Although my dream vacation is to visit Europe, I will have to go back home first to visit my family and explore the places that Philippines can offer.
I’d like to go to Boracay as I’ve never been there.
How about some Puerto Galera while I’m at it?
A little bit of Bukidnon maybe?
I can name all of them but there’s too much. I don’t think a month will suffice to visit all these places.
I can only dream. Next year, hopefully.

Don’t you just love having your name misspelled? I read an e-mail today at work directed to me and she spelled my name as Ashely.
The reason why I’m writing this is my topic today is because, Ashely rings a bell. I’m sure people who knew me as a child, my cousins and my siblings would know this. My dad used to have a tricycle when I was a kid, he decided to put a decal on it so he had it custom made under my name (I can’t remember if my sister’s name was on it too). The guy who did it, unfortunately, misspelled my name to Ashely. Of course my dad, being the “kuripot“, (I say that in a good way by the way), didn’t care to have it changed and just left it as is. I remember being called by my cousins and friends as Ashely. I hated it as it sounded more feminine than Ashley. (Oh, come on!! You’ll have to agree with me on this one).
